What
is Ortho-Bionomy?
Our body is created with a pattern for balance
and function. Ortho-Bionomy reminds us of
our inherent ability for movement and change.
We learn through our bodies. Our many life
experiences, whether physical, mental or emotional,
help shape us into what we are today. Injuries,
inefficient posture and stress can influence
our natural movements, body functioning and
self-expression. Any ongoing tension in our
anatomy may affect our equilibrium and comfort,
consciously or unconsciously.
Our bodies seek the most efficient way to
move through proprioceptive understanding.
Specialised sensory receptors in the body
provide information to our brain, monitoring
our body positions, movements and levels of
comfort and stability. Ortho-Bionomy uses
simple, non-forceful body techniques, with
the natural movements found in each person,
to stimulate awareness and relaxation. This
reminder and new proprioceptive information
allows our body to respond naturally and seek
to correct any imbalance.
