'The Language we use in Ortho-Bionomy and how that can change or influence the dynamics of the relationship'

Hello, it’s Leah Harley here.

Ortho-Bionomy has been in my life for over a decade now. Ortho-Bionomy and I have a union of love and respect. From the very first workshop I attended, I have been practising, curious, developing, amazed, excited, delighted, in awe of, and evolving. At the first workshop, something was ignited in me that felt familiar, as if I already knew it, something deep and innate, that’s Ortho-Bionomy. I also had a strong sense of teaching Ortho-Bionomy one day and here I am.

In July, I would like to talk about the language we use during a session of Ortho-Bionomy and how that changes the dynamics of the relationship between the practitioner and the person on the table (or chair or standing). Right there, is the first hint, ‘person on the table’. How does it differ if we are to say, ‘client on the table’ or ‘patient on the table’ or ‘customer on the table’? Do these terms evoke a sense of an imbalance of power in the relationship? Do these terms evoke the thought of money or business? What is our comfort like around using these terms?

Above is one example of what we can explore in a discussion. There are other examples that I would like to present and discuss in the webinar. When engaging with a person in an Ortho-Bionomy session, do we ‘work on’, ‘work at’ or ‘work with’ even the word ‘work’ can be a trigger for some.

As we approach, so are we greeted.
