Newcastle PHASE FIVE with Advanced Instructor Francis Heslin
The focus of Phase Five is to move to a more energetic level of awareness of the practice and principles of Ortho-Bionomy.
Specific techniques develop and increase the student's understanding and proprioceptive sensitivity to the self-corrective movements initiated by the client.
Through the practice of observing, following and supporting subtle movement patterns, tension is released, and range of motion may be increased through interrupting patterns of ‘holding’. Phase 5 brings more advanced components of Ortho-Bionomy into practice and awareness. ‘Working with’ is emphasised more profoundly as the practitioner and client activate the self-correction process with distinctive reflexive response and timing.
In this class, a range of reflexes are discussed, explored and learnt. We learn to develop our skills to be present in the experience of these reflexes, which may ‘turn up the volume’ of client response. While maintaining presence, observation, and ‘hand attentiveness’, the practitioner ‘does less’ to allow the client to ‘do more’ in accessing self-correction and change. We learn to feel this in our hands, observe, monitor, and respond to what is sensed.
