What is Ortho-Bionomy? 

It is a gentle, non-invasive method of therapeutic bodywork which uniquely addresses pain and stress patterns, promoting structural balance and ease of movement. It is a deeply respectful and mindful way to interact with the person’s body. Ortho-Bionomy is very effective, because you work directly with the nervous system, the body’s central management centre.

How does Ortho-Bionomy work?

Ortho-Bionomy differs from many forms of body work in that it doesn’t use pain to treat pain or use forceful work to oppose what is structurally occurring within the body. We work supportively with the patterns currently at play within the body, informing the nervous system about the structure and its patterns. Information given this way creates a follow-on effect through the body's natural self-correcting reflexes. This allows corrections to occur naturally and comfortably for clients. 

What will I learn in a class? 

In this workshop you will learn to facilitate and receive Ortho-Bionomy using positioning, tracking movement through the body, finding positions of comfort, and witnessing releases. Experiencing how to be present to yourself and to your fellow student. Principles and definitions of Ortho Bionomy will be given and instruction in Ortho-Bionomy techniques. The workshop is for two days and will include demonstrations and hands on practice and by the end of the workshop you will have the basic tools to practice Ortho-Bionomy. This workshop is open to everyone.
