This foundation class covers the history, philosophy and concepts of Ortho-Bionomy and provides an overview of the basic release techniques and anatomy for each major joint in the body.

Movements and positions of comfort are demonstrated to facilitate the release of muscular tension and overall stress by stimulating the inherent, self-corrective reflexes of the body which help the body create structural alignment and balance from within. This course can be broken down into specific body areas to break the coursework into more manageable sections.

  Self-Care Practices Class

This class is an opportunity for attendees, from all backgrounds, to learn self-care practices to support their own structural wellness. Therapists from all modalities, as well as students of Ortho-Bionomy, will learn ways of providing clients with the most effective exercises to do after the session to integrate the changes experienced within the session. This supports enduring change.

  Exploration of the Body's Movement Patterns

Learning to explore, and identify efficient vs inefficient movement patterns adds a dynamic dimension to the more static positional release techniques of Fundamental Ortho-Bionomy. Participants will learn to recognize and feel patterns of joint and muscle movement, in order to facilitate increased range of comfortable motion.

  Postural Re-education and Post Treatment techniques

In this class students will gain understanding, exploring and creating balance within the structures that hold us upright. Modern life tends to have us living in a fast-forward "lean" or in an overuse pattern. This creates structural disharmony, patterns of inefficient movement, pain, lack of movement and even rigidity. The aim of this class is to learn methods to notice these inefficient patterns of imbalance, learn ways to create freedom of movement, and ways to integrate these changes.
